EAST END FILM FESTIVAL OPENS WITH
LONDON PREMIERE OF THE WAITING ROOM

Thursday 17 April 2008, Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road - Arrivals from 6:15pm

The director and stars of British romantic drama The Waiting Room will descend on East London tonight, Thursday 17 April, for its London premiere, opening the seventh East End Film Festival.

The feature debut of Academy Award-nominated writer/director Roger Goldby, The Waiting Room explores the tangled love lives of a group of Londoners. The film stars Anne-Marie Duff as a single mum, drawn into a damaging affair with her married neighbour; and Ralf Little as a care worker, under pressure from his girlfriend and her parents to start a family – but following a chance encounter on a station platform, the lives of these two strangers is thrown onto a different track. This character driven ensemble piece presents a fresh, edgy, yet totally romantic view of contemporary life and love in London.

Guests attending this opening night gala screening include: the films writer/director Roger Goldby, and its stars Ralf Little, Rupert Graves, Zoe Telford, Frank Finlay, and Phyllida Law, alongside other special guests and dignitaries.

"I am absolutely thrilled that we have been selected for the gala opening night screening,” said Roger. “It’s a great way to introduce The Waiting Room to Londoners, as the East End Film Festival is such a vibrant and creative event."

This is followed by the opening night preview of Kaleidomorphism, an instillation by artist Chris Gollon, at the newly opened Beach Blanket Babylon, Shoreditch, accompanied by cocktails, music and dancing.
